SPARKsquad (Before and After School Program)
6 yr – 12 yr old
Time at home should be all about the family, giving the parent the ability to turn off their “teacher mode” after their workday and focus solely on the happiness and success of their child. For students in the SPARKsquad, we strive to actively provide engagement through an abundance of knowledge, life skills, and learning in both academic and active stations. From experiment stations to robotics, crafting, and number walls, engagement never stops within our SPARKhub. The SPARKsquad can also take their adventures outside to utilize our multiple age-appropriate campus gardens, sports court, and play spaces.
Our program offers exciting learning opportunities that balance social, mental, and physical activities: from time spent nurturing friendships, finishing homework, and enjoying sports and other physical activities. SPARKsquad bridges the gap between school and a parent’s work schedule to encourage a child’s growing desire for new challenges and opportunities that nurture their expanding world. This after-school program is STEAM-based and provides activities to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Students have worked with color and form by creating their own artwork inspired by Peter Reynold's book "The Dot" and Van Gogh's "Sunflowers." We have also experimented with printmaking by using stamps made out of various mediums. Team-building and friendships blossom as the students expand their imagination and pretend play. Fine motor and spatial awareness skills are harnessed through completing puzzles and building with legos. Osmo stations allow students to begin practicing age-appropriate coding skills. All the while, the students are encouraged to maintain care for their environment by keeping the space clean and organized. We also implore the practice of grace and courtesy with our peers.
We understand parents and families with busy schedules—because of this, the STEAMspark team wants to offer as much help to your family as we can provide. We know those moments at home with your child are precious and that’s why our goal is to help, guide, and direct your child’s academics and play so that when pick-up time arrives, you do not have to worry about anything except spending time with your wonderful child!
Students in all programs have the opportunity to engage in our after-school SPARKsquad. Accessible in two options in the afternoon:
3:00pm - 5:00pm or 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
