Did You Know?
Upper Elementary children are driven by a strong sense of justice, purpose, and belonging. They begin to see themselves as part of a wider community and are motivated by opportunities to contribute meaningfully. Montessori classrooms honor this developmental shift by encouraging independent research, group decision making, and leadership roles within the classroom. Children design their own projects, mentor younger peers, and begin preparing for the adolescent stage, where intellectual curiosity meets real world action.

Guides
Our Guides act as academic mentors and leadership coaches, helping each student refine their ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively. Lessons are increasingly complex and interdisciplinary, challenging children to connect ideas across subjects and to take ownership of their academic and personal goals. Guides empower children to move beyond rote learning and into purposeful inquiry, fostering confidence, self-discipline, and empathy.

Upper Elementary Milestones
By the end of the Upper Elementary cycle, children demonstrate mastery of foundational academics, independence in managing their learning, and maturity in collaboration and leadership. They can conduct in-depth research, articulate ideas clearly, and approach complex challenges with creativity and resilience. These milestones prepare them for the adolescent years with the confidence, integrity, and intellectual curiosity to make a positive impact in the world.
Our Upper Elementary Program, serving children ages 9 to 12, represents a powerful period of intellectual and personal growth.
