Why Is Steam Important in Early Childhood Education

The Importance of Early Childcare

For a child, the time from around birth to approximately 5 or 6 years of age is the most vital time regarding the formation of a child’s educational foundation; however, most individuals fail to acknowledge the importance of this period. During this time, children draw information from the environment that surrounds them. For example, the usage of language around a child creates the building blocks that later allow them to develop their vocabulary and understand complex speech. A child's early years essential for establishing a strong base for lifelong learning abilities, including cognitive and social developments. Early childcare is more than readying for child for primary schooling; it also aims at the development of the child's social, emotional, cognitive skills, and physical skills that allow them to build a solid and broad foundation for the child's lifelong wellbeing.

Through early childhood education, your child will develop good habits that come with having a daily structured routine that enables them to feel safe and secure. When children know what to expect daily, they are more likely remain calm and settled. Literacy and numeracy skills form the foundations for child education beyond common expectations of reading, writing, and counting skills. Children in early childcare learn these skills from listening to stories, talking about pictures, and drawing shapes on paper. They also learn music skills by singing and playing music in the classroom throughout the day. Early childhood education prepares children for the future when they will continuously encounter new and foreign experiences in a manner that ensures their success both within and outside the classroom.

The Importance of Early Childhood Education

Early childhood education is important because it lays the foundational tools and skills a child will need, develop, and use throughout the rest of their lives.

During these initial developmental stages of life, children begin to learn about both themselves and the world around them. Not dissimilar to a sponge, children will absorb everything they see and observe in their environment around them, whether it be good or bad. Therefore, a properly prepared environment for the young child is crucial. As a result, parents, adults, and caretakers all play instrumental roles in ensuring that a child is set of the path to a successful future.

Initially, many of a child’s learning experiences may be deemed as ‘playing’; however, these experiences the children encounter with their peers helps them to develop mentally and socially. As stated in the article titled “What is the Purpose of Early Childhood Education” published by the University of Massachusetts Global, “Young children learn best through play, and starting early sets them up for success in life and school.” Even the skills the child learns and develops during playing will help them well into adulthood.

Another great thing about early childcare education at STEAMspark is the incorporation of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). With this incorporation of S.T.E.A.M. materials, children are encouraged and have the chance to spark their imagination and mind and take further steps into expanding their knowledge. With the knowledge gained through S.T.E.A.M., young minds at STEAMspark become well-rounded and adaptable.

Overall, early childhood education at STEAMspark allows children to discover the fully explore the world around them in preparation for a successful and enriching future.
